KNIESS, DAVID C. was born November 11, 1951 in Dayton, Ohio
and died Tuesday, June 25th, 2002 at his home in Plano, Texas.
Dave had something
called small cell cancer of the lung, which in turn spread
to his spine, liver, etc. He was diagnosed sometime in late
November.
David graduated Miami University of Ohio BA '75 MS '78 and
was a Scripps Scholar in Gerontology. He was a member of the
Phi Kappa Tau fraternity which he supported throughout his
life.
David devoted his life to working with the infirm and elderly.
He was employed by Stillwater Hospital in Dayton OH from 1979
to 1983. He was a licensed nursing home administrator and
subsequently a district director for Hillhaven Healthcare;
a regional director for Horizon Healthcare; President of Sundance
Rehabilitation; and co-founder and vice chairman of EnduraCare
LCC.
In addition to his many skills David was a wonderful and giving
husband and father and will be dearly missed by his family
and pets. David was preceded in death by his father Gerald
W. Jerry Kniess. Survived by his wife Anne and daughters Adriane
and Katelynn Kniess of Plano TX; his mother and step-father
Betty and Mike Salopek and grand mother Anna Salopek of Dayton
Ohio; brother Phil Kniess and family of Piqua Ohio sister
Nancy Adinolfi and family of Cleveland Ohio and half-brother
Norman Kniess of Springboro Ohio.
Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday July 2nd at Baker-Hazel
Funeral Home 5555 Philadelphia Dr. at N. Main St. by Rev Dick
VanTine. Interment David Cemetery. Some of the friends in
attendance from his Meadowdale High school Class of '70 were:
Alan Lebowitz, Chip Bok; Dave's childhood neighbor and lifelong
friend, Sherry Golden; classmates Bill Case, Lance West, Vickie
(Webster) Weaver.
